One idea from Debord that I kept thinking about was whether resistance actually has to change anything in order to feel meaningful. Debord suggests that the spectacle can absorb even things that seem to oppose it, turning rebellion back into something that can be consumed. This made me wonder whether resistance can sometimes work almost like a placebo. Even if we are not actually escaping the structures we resist, the act of resistance can still give us a sense of agency. This seems especially relevant when resistance becomes part of popular culture. Something that begins as a rejection of the mainstream can eventually become an aesthetic, a trend, or even a commodity. Maybe the spectacle does not need to suppress rebellion at all and it can simply give people enough space to rebel in ways that do not seriously threaten the structure itself.
